For winter 2012, the Alexis Mabille man stakes out his turf and holds fast to his beliefs. Like Henry VIII in his day, his triumphant sensuality comes with high ornamentation. His aesthetic combines contemporary charisma with a nod to the Renaissance, while also exploring the diehard world of bikers. Drawing upon the ostentatious austerity of the Tudor era, our man reinterprets the doublet, the pleated shirt and pants in a silhouette that blends nobility with the relaxed cuts of a modern couture sensibility. He has an equal affection for bombers and martingale jackets, black, grey or red, cardigans and vests, checked shirts and guipure collars, bowties, message t-shirts printed with playing cards or a six-pack motif in studs and strass that pokes fun at the cult of physical perfection. Fabrics are also important: brocade, lace, wool cloth, poplin, flannel, velvet, coated denim... and omnipresent leather, which comes embroidered, quilted and topstitched into trompe l’oeil thigh-highs on slim jeans. Alexis Mabille's wardrobe elevates his man to iconic status with a freestyle mix of classics and fantasy. |
